If you want to create your own clothing brand, the easiest way is to design it yourself and hand it over to a clothing factory for production. Although the process of custom clothing production is not that complicated, you also need to understand the specific process.
First of all, let’s first understand the current mainstream clothing customization mode. Generally speaking, there are two cooperation modes:
Contract labor and materials: You only need to confirm the clothing to be made in the factory, and the factory will produce it after you pay the deposit. After you are done, you can collect the goods and pay and you can pick up the goods.
Incoming processing: you need to lay out the board for review, and then buy the fabrics to the processing factory, which is only responsible for the production.
Processing with supplied materials is more troublesome. Contracting labor and materials is a more convenient and better way, so let’s focus on the specific steps.
Next, we need to understand the detailed process of clothing customization.
Provide design drafts and sample materials;
The design drawings for the factory must be technical drawings. The design drawings must have specific process descriptions, length, ratio, location, whether there are special requirements for the process, etc. Different processes have different effects, and these need to be explained in detail.
It’s best to provide the garment factory with samples of the fabrics you want. These fabric samples can be found in the wholesale market. If there is really no sample, you can make specific text descriptions, such as fabric composition, pattern, texture effect , Weight, etc., entrust the processing factory to help you find it.
Price calculation:
After determining the customization matters, you can ask the factory to provide a quotation. The price is calculated as follows:
Material cost + labor cost + profit and tax = unit price;
Fabric consumption X unit price X quantity = material cost;
The labor cost is calculated according to the simple or cumbersome design of the process, the length of the required working hours, the benefit and tax, depending on the off-season or the peak season, and the size of the required quantity. In principle, the factory will generally be based on 10%~30 % To charge.
There may be a lot of content involved. Buttons, zippers, printing, embroidery and other materials and craftsmanship, you need to contact and understand thoroughly, otherwise the cost will not be lowered. If you exceed the budget too much, you can find ways to adjust the design plan, or change the factory.
Make a sample:
You can let the factory make a sample garment first, and see the factory’s ability to understand the data requirements, and have an assessment of the factory’s quality control system and technical level. Good samples prove that the factory has the ability to make clothes that meet your requirements. If the samples are not good, see what the problem is. After discussing with the factory, see if improvements can be made. Then you can make samples again until it is done. Until the satisfactory effect is reached.
Signed production contract:
The signing of the contract should be as detailed as possible. Does the factory make it in accordance with your instructions? Can the factory schedule the production plan and package for delivery within the agreed time? How do you pay the factory? These should be included in the terms of the contract and have binding measures for both parties.
Inspection payment:
After the quality of the clothes is ensured, payment can be made, and then the other party can be required to provide an invoice. The process of cooperating with the factory is basically like this, the rest is that you sell through your sales channels, and then design the next style and repeat.
